Rawlings XPG26 Amos Otis 1976
(NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
Vintage Baseball Glove/Mitt: (circa 1976) USA made Rawlings XPG 26 with split hinge “speed trap” web measures 9½"x 10" (an 11½" pattern) and is endorsed by Amos Otis, 1967 - '84 (facsimile signature in pocket). The photos pretty much describe the glove’s condition and features. As for what you can’t see or might not notice: Uniformly padded leather feels soft, smooth, and almost “floppy” flexible - easy to manipulate. No holes, rips, or tears inside or out; shows normal wear; slight scuffing on tips of fingers and thumb. Leather lining soft and smooth - comfortable; solid thumb loop strap. All lacing original. Thick rolled leather piping in very good condition/excellent condition; stitching and seams also. A previous owner printed letters (initials?) on back of thumb. Easy-to-read stampings. Suitable for play or display. Its 11½" pattern is ideal for a middle infielder yet versatile enough for use at almost any position. Will catch a softball reliably but is probably better suited for baseball. Mickey Mantle’s endorsement was used on the XPG26 originally (in 1966); “Famous Amos” Otis’ name appeared on the well-made model in '76. Has been cleaned and conditioned.
