Rawlings SM300 Turtle-Back Soft-Ball Mitt
(NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
Vintage Baseball Glove/Mitt: (circa 1964) Rawlings SM300 “Official Soft-Ball” single-hinge catcher’s mitt with “Turtle-Back” measures 9½"x 10" (31" circumference). No player endorsement. The photos pretty much describe the mitt’s condition and features. As for what you can’t see or might not notice: Leather feels soft, smooth, and “floppy” flexible - easy to manipulate. No holes, rips, or tears inside or out; shows normal wear. Leather lining smooth and comfortable; finger loop-strap and interior finger stall partition solidly intact. Old thumb stall design is unique in that it is sewn onto the mitt as an entirely separate section. All lacing original. Rolled canvas piping shows wear but is all there. No previous owner’s markings anywhere. Lots of silver still remains on turtle-back side stampings. Whereas most single-hinge mitts require the catcher to use both hands, this mitt will secure a ball one-handedly. Nice 60's mitt feels lightweight and easy to handle. Displays as well from back as from front and is enjoyable to play catch with. Has been cleaned and conditioned.
