No-Hinge Buckle-Back Catcher's Mitt 30's-40's
(NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
Vintage Baseball Glove/Mitt: (1930's-40's) no-hinge buckle-back catcher’s mitt measures 9"x 10½" (31½" circumference). No visible manufacturer stampings. The photos pretty much describe the mitt’s condition and features. As for what you can’t see or might not notice: Thickly padded leather feels uncommonly soft, smooth, and firm - somewhat stiff/inflexible (due to over-padding). No holes, rips, or tears inside or out; overall chaffing and scuffing - more prevalent on back. Leather lining slightly chaffed yet feels smooth and comfortable. Entire mitt has been relaced. Thick rolled leather piping in good/very good condition; stitching and seams also. Buckle assembly solidly intact and functions properly. Silver buckle (once painted black) shows pitting - little tarnish. No previous owner’s markings anywhere. This mitt’s inflexibility requires the catcher to use both hands and is a good training tool for that purpose. Solidly built old “thumper” displays as well from back as from front. Has been cleaned and conditioned.
