Rare Jerry Lumpe Button-Back c1960
(NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
Vintage Baseball Glove/Mitt: (circa 1960) USA made Spalding 1943 button-back measures 8½"x 9½" endorsed by Jerry Lumpe, 1956 - '67 (facsimile signature on pinky). Lumpe’s endorsement is listed as "Rare" in the Bushing/Phillips Glove Price Guide. The photos pretty much describe the glove’s condition and features. As for what you can’t see or might not notice: Leather feels relatively soft and smooth; somewhat flexible/somewhat stiff. Well-padded thumb, heel, pinky, and fingers; little, if any, padding in pocket. No holes, rips, or tears inside or out; overall soiling, chaffing, and checking. Leather lining smooth and comfortable. Heel lacing original; fingers and web have been relaced. Leather piping in good/very good condition; stitching and seams also. No previous owner’s markings anywhere. Stampings worn yet easily visible. Brass button with "Spalding Trade Mark" engraved in red shows no tarnish. "Rare" late 50's/early 60's display glove feels good to wear. Has been cleaned and conditioned.
