Rawlings MM6 Mickey Mantle "The Comet" c1960
(NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
Vintage Baseball Glove/Mitt: (c1960) Rawlings MM6 “Custom Crafted - Professional” model button-back “Comet” measures 8"x 8½" and is endorsed by Hall-of-Famer Mickey Mantle, 1951 - '68 (facsimile signature somewhat difficult to discern in pocket also stamped with picture of player standing with hands on hips). The MM6 is listed as of above average value in the Bushing/Phillips Glove Price Guide. The photos pretty much describe the glove’s condition and features. As for what you can’t see or might not notice: This glove is designed for a lefty. Leather feels smooth and firm yet flexible. Well-padded thumb, heel, and pinky; little, if any, padding in pocket. No holes, rips, or tears inside or out; overall chaffing; scuff mark on tip of thumb. Leather lining feels soft and smooth - comfortable. All lacing original. Rolled leather piping in good/very good condition; stitching and seams also. Am not sure, but it appears that a previous owner highlighted the endorsement (or it’s soiling and my eyes are misleading me). Brass button with “Rawlings” engraved in red shows no tarnish. Lots of silver still remains in stampings. Valuable late 50's/early 60's glove is an attractive display. One of The Mick's nicknames (from Commerce) was "The Comet". Has been cleaned and conditioned.
