Rare Gene Clough Nokona Button-Back 3 Finger
(NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
Vintage Baseball Glove/Mitt: (early 50's) USA made Nokona J113 button-back 3 finger with "Field Rite Pocket" measures 8½"x 9" and is endorsed by Gene Clough (facsimile signature on side of heel). Clough starred in minor league play during the 50's but never made it to the majors. His endorsement is listed as "Rare" in the Bushing/Phillips Glove Price Guide. The photos pretty much describe the glove’s condition and features. As for what you can’t see or might not notice: Well-padded thumb, heel, and pinky; fingers lightly padded; little, if any, padding in pocket. Genuine cowhide feels Nokona-soft, smooth, and firm yet flexible. No holes, rips, or tears inside or out; shows normal wear. Leather lining slightly checked yet smooth and comfortable. Rolled leather piping in good condition; stitching and seams also. Heel lacing original; fingers and web have been relaced. No previous owner’s markings anywhere. Stampings worn yet visible. Silver button with raised 3 stars and wreath shows tarnish. Nice 50's 3 finger "rarity" displays well, feels good to wear, and catches a ball reliably. Has been cleaned and conditioned.
