Spalding 1331 Trapper 1950's
(NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
Vintage Baseball Glove/Mitt: (circa 1953) Spalding 1331 Trapper measures 9"x 7" tall (12½" along contour of pocket from hinge to web). No player endorsement. The photos pretty much describe the mitt’s condition and features. As for what you can’t see or might not notice: Uniformly padded leather feels soft, smooth, and firm yet flexible. No holes, rips, or tears inside or out; shows minimal wear; pocket darkened from oilings. Thumb and toe are reinforced for digging balls out of the dirt. Leather lining exceptionally soft and smooth - comfortable; fingers loop strap solid. Most lacing original; web has been relaced. Rolled canvas piping in fairly good/good condition. Double stitching and seams very good. A previous owner printed his name lightly in small letters on heel of lining. Some silver still remains in deep, easy-to-read stampings. Nice early 50's mitt displays well, feels good to wear and is enjoyable to use. Trappers were introduced by Rawlings in 1940 and became more popular in the 50's. Has been cleaned and conditioned.
