Gambles Horsehide "Spider" Web Split Finger
(NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
Vintage Baseball Glove/Mitt: (circa 1930) Gambles Sporting Goods 24S (private label - possibly manufactured by GoldSmith) button-back split finger with 1½" sewn spider web measures 8½"x 8½". No player endorsement. The photos pretty much describe the glove’s condition and features. As for what you can’t see or might not notice: Well-padded thumb, heel, and pinky; fingers and pocket lightly padded. Horsehide feels smooth and firm yet flexible. No holes, rips, or tears inside or out; overall creasing. Leather lining chaffed (moreso in heel area) yet feels smooth and comfortably intact (nice thumb and finger stalls). Heel has been relaced. Original piping has been replaced with cloth. Seams in good condition. Silver button shows little tarnish. Deep, easy-to-read stampings. No previous owner’s markings anywhere. Nice late 20's/early 30's sewn web split finger displays well, feels good to wear, and is enjoyable to use. Has been cleaned and conditioned.
