Terry Moore Ken-Wel Split Finger
Vintage Baseball Glove/Mitt: (circa 1938) Ken-Wel 539 button-back, split finger with double horizontal tunnel web measures 9"x 9½" and is endorsed by Terry Moore, 1935 - '48 (facsimile signature on side of heel). Moore’s endorsement is listed as of above average value in the Bushing/Phillips Glove Price Guide. The photos pretty much describe the glove’s condition and features. As for what you can’t see or might not notice: Thickly padded thumb, heel, and pinky; no padding in pocket. "Oil Treated" horsehide feels smooth and firm yet flexible. No holes, rips, or tears inside or out; shows normal wear. Leather lining chaffed yet comfortably intact; a repair has been made inside pinky stall. Heel lacing original; horizontal tunnel webs have been relaced. Rolled leather piping shows wear but is all there. Stitching and seams in good condition. Deep, easy-to-read stampings. No previous owner’s markings anywhere. Brass button engraved: "KEN-WEL" shows no tarnish. Nice late 30's mid-priced split finger displays well, feels comfortable to wear, and is enjoyable to use. Has been cleaned and conditioned.
