Walter Dropo Macgregor G153 Trapper
(NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
Vintage Baseball Glove/Mitt: (1950's) USA made MacGregor G153 "Professional Model" Trapper measures 9"x 8" tall (12" along contour of pocket from hinge to web) and is endorsed by Walter Dropo, 1949 - '61 (facsimile signature on bottom of toe). The photos pretty much describe the mitt’s condition and features. As for what you can’t see or might not notice: Thickly padded leather feels uncommonly soft, smooth, and somewhat "newish" - not fully broken-in. No holes, rips, or tears inside or out; shows minimal wear. Thumb and toe are reinforced for digging balls out of the dirt; web fortified by a 1" strap. Leather lining exceptionally soft and smooth - comfortable; fingers loop strap solid. Most lacing original; web has been relaced. Thick rolled leather piping in good/very good condition. Stitching and seams excellent. Unfortunately, a previous owner’s marking is visible on wrist strap. Some silver still remains in deep, easy-to-read stampings. Well-constructed 50's mitt displays well, is a pleasure to wear and enjoyable to use. Trappers were introduced by Rawlings in 1940 and became more popular in the 50's. Has been cleaned and conditioned.
